I have talked about struggling readers before (here and here) and shared some of my favorite tips, but I have a new tip that is really helping now.

My struggling reader is in 2nd grade and reading has started to really click for him. There were times I doubted we would ever get to this point; so have hope if you have a struggling reader!

Now his biggest hurdle is getting overwhelmed by the high number of words on a page and keeping track of where he is on the page. He particularly hates using his finger to follow along.

I recently discovered guided reading strips and he loves them. They help him stay on track, and breaking down a page line-by-line, makes the book feel more manageable.
